In an effort to alleviate confusion or any misunderstandings, please see our policies stated below. However, please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.Puppies: We release/ship our puppies at 12 weeks of age. We believe that at this age we are better able to judge each pup's potential. We require a $100 non-refundable deposit which is applied toward the purchase of your Breton [French Brittany] pup. This deposit is deducted from the total purchase price when the transaction is completed. Deposits are accepted in chronological order and a receipt will be mailed to you. The depositor has the right to roll his reservation over to another breeding, within reason, and as agreed upon by the breeder. Deposits are non-refundable should you decide to cancel the purchase.Certificate of Deposit on Puppy Naming conventions: We require our puppy buyers to follow our own naming convention whereby each litter is named with a designated letter of the alphabet. (i.e., 2005- all names start with either the letter "F" or "G"). We also require that our kennel name be included as part of the dog's registered name - e.g. "TopperLyn Dynamite." Just as with children - your dog will have a "short" or "nickname" that you call him by (Duke - Rover - Spot, etc.). Registration papers issued by the United Kennel Club (UKC) and American Kennel Club (AKC) will be furnished with each puppy/dog. Your puppy will also be eligible to be registered with NAVHDA. Testing: We fully subscribe to the concept of “testing” our dogs. We strongly encourage all puppy buyers to test their dog either through the North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association (NAVHDA) or [if eligible] through the Jagdgebrauchshundverein – USA (JGV-USA). Testing serves multiple purposes. First it helps us, as breeders, evaluate our breeding program by seeing what the strengths and weaknesses may be of the dogs that we are producing. Getting involved with a NAVHDA Chapter helps the new puppy owner get off to a good start with their new dog and establish many new friendships with like-minded people; basically hunters who love their dogs and who want to develop them into being the best that they can be. Preparation for the tests helps build a bond between the new owner and their dog. It also establishes timelines for accomplishing the necessary training in order to have a good, reliable hunting dog. We feel so strongly about the benefits of testing that we offer a rebate to all of our puppy buyers who test their dogs.Guarantees: We guarantee our pups to be free of genetic defects and to be in good health at the time of sale. Dogs are guaranteed for two years and must be in otherwise good health. Any physical trauma suffered by the dog during this time voids all warranties. Please see our Puppy Sale Contract for full terms and conditions.Started Dogs: A "Started" dog is defined as a dog that has begun formal training as a gun dog. We guarantee that the dog has been introduced to and has an understanding of: basic obedience- including "whoa" and "come" to both voice and whistle command. Retrieving has been introduced with both training dummies and dead birds. The pup has been worked in the field over live birds, introduced to water, and has been introduced to gun fire. A "Started" dog is ready to take hunting. To fulfill the Started Dog guarantee, the owner must participate in at least one transitional training session with your dog and the trainer, preferably more. |
